A magnificent and striking large Imari porcelain plate (42.5 cm in diameter), beautifully decorated with lush blooming peonies in rich cobalt blue on a pristine white porcelain ground.
The peony, known as the "King of Flowers," is a classic symbol of prosperity, honor, and noble beauty. Painted with dynamic brushstrokes and subtle cobalt shading (sometsuke), the flowers seem to come alive across the plate. Delicate floral motifs are also painted on the underside, demonstrating exquisite craftsmanship throughout.
